An introduction to Planning a Quantitative Research Project Online

This workshop is aimed primarily at students undertaking a quantitative dissertation or research project, and is primarily for students who are new to quantitative research, or who would like a refresher. Though it is an introduction, a very basic knowledge of statistics (such as knowing the difference between mean, median, and mode) is assumed.

In the session we will discuss how best to structure your research project to keep the process of running statistics/data analysis as simple as possible. We will also try to clarify the difference between descriptive and inferential statistics, different types of variables (continuous, interval, categorical, etc.), and independent and dependant variables. We will conclude by briefly discussing how to identify what type of test you need for your research question or hypothesis.

The workshop will run online over Microsoft Teams.
