Using artificial intelligence ethically within learning and research: an AI literacy workshop (Whitechapel edition)

This interactive workshop is open to any students and staff across the University who are interested in finding out a bit more about how generative AI can be used responsibly and ethically in learning and research.

The workshop will enable participants to develop their AI literacy; that is the competencies to enable us to use AI tools effectively and critically in order to live, learn and work in a world enhanced by AI technologies.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Develop an understanding of generative AI
  • Discover a range of potential uses for AI in learning and research in line with the principles of academic integrity
  • Investigate some of the advantages and limitations of using AI, including ethical considerations
  • Interact with some common AI tools
  • Compare output of different prompts and understand the importance of effective prompting
  • Critically evaluate the output of AI tools

As the workshop involves a number of hands-on activities, please bring a laptop or tablet. Laptops can be borrowed from the libraries at Whitechapel and Mile End.
